Contemporary Figurative Art

by Wolf Kesh

In this Essentrist painting Wolf Kesh looks at a beautiful woman who was once naive and enthusiastic but became disillusioned, cynical and calculating for the sake of survival.

The Refugee

by Wolf Kesh

A refugee who escaped the Soviet Communism, a system that has eventually proven itself self-defeating. She's arrived in the Free West full of dreams, determination, anticipation, most of all: FREE AT LAST! She's come young, strong, healthy and willing to do anything to adapt herself, to learn, to work hard, to succeed... To build a life for herself, the life she was denied under the Communist regimen. She didn't know just how vulnerable, unprepared and naive she was. She didn't know that the Free World won't welcome her. She didn't know that a change of geographical location alone won't change her life. She had no way of knowing THEN that she'll drown. Perhaps in a swamp of a different kind, but drown just the same.........  She's come from the Eastern Block: naive, hopeful and ..... bound to fail in the Free World she used idealize. Or is she?..........
